City of Newcastle Landfill

The Landfill, located outside the City of Newcastle, is a solid waste disposal facility that buries trash and garbage beneath layers of soil or other cover materials.

Landfill Rates and Instructions

Landfill gate fees: 6¢ per pound unless otherwise noted below

  • Disposal of dead cows, horses and similar sized animals: $20.00 for the first animal and $10.00 for each additional animal.

  • The City of Newcastle will not accept contaminated soil.

  • • Appliances - No Charge. (Freon doesn’t need to be removed from appliance before bringing appliance to landfill).

    • Batteries - No Charge. Used lead-acid batteries and nickel-cadmium batteries may be placed on the pallets by the landfill office building.

  • • To be accepted at the landfill for disposal, call the city office for pre-approval from the city engineer.

    • Appliances must be removed by customer and placed in the designated disposal area for appliances.

    • There shall be no item(s) within the trailer or mobile home or mobile home section which is not attached and part of the trailer or mobile home or mobile home section.

    • The charge to dispose of one (1) trailer not exceeding ten (10) feet in width and or forty (40) feet in length, or to dispose of one (1) section of a mobile home or trailer not exceeding ten (10) feet in width and/or forty (40) feet in length shall be $200.00 (for each trailer or mobile home section).

    • The charge to dispose of one (1) trailer exceeding ten (10) feet in width and /or forty (40) feet in length, or to dispose of one (1) section of a mobile home or trailer exceeding ten (10) feet in width and/or forty (40) feet in length shall be $400.00 (for each trailer or mobile home section).

  • • For total house demolition only: customer must first obtain pre-approval and permit from City Engineer.

    • Original permit must be renewed one year after issue date.

    • Disposal fee on house and garage is 3¢ per pound.

  • Oil base & latex - mix with cat litter, dirt or sawdust until solid; put dried paint in garbage with paint can(s).

  • • No charge for the disposal of waste oil.

    • Household quantities (typically 5 gallons or less) of used motor oil. Pour into the holding tank and dispose of the oil into the oil tank at the landfill beside the landfill office building. We DO NOT accept 55 gallon barrels of oil just set off at the landfill.

  • The disposal fee for tires is:

    • $3.00 per tire(s) which fit eight (8”) to seventeen (17”) rims

    • $4.00 per tire for tires which fit rims over 17” up to 23”

    • $15.00 per tire for tires which fit rims over 23”.
